Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis who is on a three-nation tour has gained an outstanding accolade plus a bouquet of perks for his state from the US. Fadnavis was handed out with the Outstanding Leadership in Development Award from Georgetown University and Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC. This is a global award given annually to a remarkable leader who can be either head of the state or a sub-national entity.CMO has confirmed the receiving of the award by him.
While in the US, his discussions with the World bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva proved affirmative for Maharashtra’s future development. Fadnavis had sought the World Bank assistance in Mumbai Metropolitan Region Multimodal Transport Corridor and the Rural Livelihood Project, about both of which she consented to look upon.
World Bank appreciated Maharashtra model of consent-driven land acquisition.

Attending a business discussion organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum(USISPF), he spoke about Maharashtra’s growth story and its infrastructure led growth model. He informed the audience there that his state had attracted 47% of FDI that came into the country. Fadnavis announced at the function, a proposal by the Ford Motor Company to invest USD 50 Million for setting up a “Centre of Excellence” for integrated mobility in Maharashtra for commuters across multiple modes of transport such as buses, trains, taxis, autos and metro.
Dave Sutton of Lockheed Martin had expressed a desire to set up the manufacturing unit of F16 jets in Maharashtra, which if realised would be the first outside the US and for this proposition Devendra Fadnavis said that he would do the necessary things for the plant to get set up in Nagpur.
Another remarkable offer was from Georgia Tech(Georgia Institute of Technology), who expressed their desire to launch a pilot research project to understand consumer dynamics and responsiveness to the adoption of new technologies in Maharashtra’s electricity sector.
