Mother & minor daughter gang-raped as father watches helplessly

And yet another gang-rape case has come to light. The horrifying incident took place in Bihar.

A mother and minor daughter were allegedly gang-raped by a group of almost 12 miscreants in the Sondiha village in the district of Gaya. The matter is currently under investigation and the victim has identified two of the accused.

Inspector General of Police (Patna), Naiyar Hasnain Khan told the media that the incident took place when “The three were passing through Sondiha on a motorcycle when they were waylaid by the youths carrying firearms. They raped the mother and the daughter after tying the father to a tree.”

“It also came to light during the investigation that before the gangrape incident, the same group of youths snatched away mobile phones and cash from a couple of students passing through the village,” he added

While as many as twenty people have been detained by the Koch police in connection with the crime, the daughter has identified two of the accused. Meanwhile, a medical test of the victims has been conducted and the reports are awaited, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Koch police station has been suspended and a departmental inquiry is expected to follow.

Earlier this year, Bihar’s chief minister Nitish Kumar received flak from the opposition for not being able to control the state’s spiralling crime graph. “The crime graph has gone up because the police have been asked to focus more on the liquor prohibition. The main agenda for cops is to nab people involved in the liquor business and leave them after taking money,” said RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.
