In a terrible landslide which happened in Karinchola in Kattippara Panchayat, Kozhikode, 11 people have been declared dead including the dead bodies of 3 people who were declared missing yesterday.
The dead bodies of Nusrath and her 10 years old daughter Rimsha Meher have been found recently. Nusrat’s father Hassan died in the landslide earlier. Another unidentified body has also been found. Among the 11 dead, four are kids.

The search operations are currently ongoing for 3 people from a family. The combined effort by Disaster Response Team, Fire Force and the people in the area helped to find out 3 bodies lately. Another batch of Central Disaster Response Team also arrived on the spot earlier. Planned rescue operations were carried out last day by dividing the voluntary workers into different teams, and headed by the Fire Force officials. The search operations are still going on.
Huge stones which fell over the houses have been broken up and removed, adding to this the mud has been removed using a JCB. Dog Squad search is also progressing and it has been a solace to the rescue workers that the weather is somewhat favorable now. As the rain has subsided a bit, the logged water has drained in some parts. The hilly regions in the district are also witnessing a no rain situation.
Five houses were washed off in a landslide which happened on Thursday morning. The dead bodies of Abdu Rahman(60), a native of Karinchola, his son Jafar(35), Jafar’s son Muhammad Jasim(5) along with the bodies of Dilna Sherin(9), daughter of Abdul Salim in Karinchola, Muhammad Shehbaz (3), Hassan Karinchola(65), his daughter Jannath(17) was found on Thursday. The body of Rima Fatima Mariam(1 years old), the daughter of Nasrat who had been missing, was found out on Friday.
The houses of Karinchola Hassan, Abdul Rahman, Abdul Salim, Ercha Abdu Rahman, Prasad Kodasseripoyil were destroyed in the accident.
