The UDF called for a district-wide dawn-to-dusk hartal in Idukki. The hartal is scheduled for August 25 to protest against the government’s unwillingness to step up the human life in Highland. Many lost life and people are living in fear amid consecutive wild elephant raid in villages.
Earlier the hartal was scheduled to take place on August 30, it was shifted to 25th due to the increased fury of wild animals. The UDF also appealed to the government to demand a comprehensive solution to all problems affecting the people’s lives, including the forest department. Idukki DCC president Ibrahim Kutty said that the UDF will observe the Hartal on 25th June demanding a solution to the problems.
