The farmers have been on a strike for the past 18 days with little to no changes in their demands. And now an MLA comes forward in support with harsh words.
Gujarat Congress MLA from Vav, Geniben Thakore, recently, while addressing farmers’ gathering said that she is pained by the plight of the farmers and if it were up to her, she would kill them (BJP leaders) and go to jail if it were to come to that.
She said, “Though I should not use such language being an MLA, I am so pained that even if I have to take up weapons and kill someone and go to jail, it will not matter to me. The Congress party is ready to go to this extent for the farmers.”

Geniben was elected in 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections after winning by over 7,000 votes against sitting MLA and former minister in the Rupani government.
This is not the first time a Congress MLA has used foul language. Earlier in May, former Congress MP and currently MLA, Virji Thummar had used choicest abuses for Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah. One questions whether such language is acceptable within the Congress party?
Meanwhile, the farmers had launched a nation-wide 10-day strike on June 1, with thousands of farmers from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana demanding waiver of loans, right price for their crops and implementation of recommendations of Swaminathan Commission.
The protests were called to mark the first anniversary of the Mandsaur demonstration in Madhya Pradesh, in which six farmers were killed in police firing.
As part of the protest, farmers had shut down the supply of milk, vegetables and essential farm produce due to which the vegetable prices in the market have gone up.
