It’s difficult being a news reader, knowing that a lot of people have tuned in to your feed and that a single mistake would really cost you. But then, it doesn’t matter however hard you train to read those news with a pleasant face, there is news that touches the ‘human’ inside you.
Rachel Maddow is a MSNBC anchor who came across a news that babies and other young children are being sent to at least three “tender age” shelters in South Texas as part of the US government’s “zero tolerance” policy, under which anyone who crosses the US-Mexico border without legal status is prosecuted by the justice department. It was difficult for her to simply read it without the gravity of the situation touching her. Watch the video here:

She begins to read the report before choking up. “I think I’m going to have to hand this off,” she says, before apologizing and ending the broadcast.
She later tweeted an apology for losing her focus off the job for a moment.
Ugh, I’m sorry.
If nothing else, it is my job to actually be able to speak while I’m on TV.
