India vs Ireland: Ireland Win Toss In First T20 Against India
Team India will look to start their English summer on a positive note as they face Ireland in the first of the two Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) at The Village, Dublin on Wednesday.
Ireland skipper Gary Wilson wins the toss and opts to bowl first against India. India will become seventh nation to play 100 or more T20I matches. Pakistan leads the chart with a total of 128 T20I matches played.
This will be the first bilateral series between India and Ireland. Both teams have clashed only once before during ICC World Twenty20 at Nottingham in 2009 where India registered a comfortable 8-wicket win.
The T20Is against Ireland is only a precursor to the stronger tests in England, where the Virat Kohli-led side will tour next to play three T20Is, three One-day Internationals (ODI) and five Test matches. This will be for the first time that a full-strength Indian team will be seen in action, since the tour of South Africa earlier this year.
India XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli(c), Suresh Raina, Manish Pandey, MS Dhoni(w), Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal
Ireland (Playing XI): Gary Wilson(c), Paul Stirling, James Shannon, Andrew Balbirnie, Simi Singh, Stuart Poynter(w), Kevin O Brien, Stuart Thompson, George Dockrell, Boyd Rankin, Peter Chase
