During a quarrel, an angered young man had chopped up his wife, stuffed her in a box and disposed of off the body.
The 26-year-old wife had constantly jibbed and taunted at her husband for over lack of unemployment, which was often the cause of the quarrels between them.
The gruesome incident came to light after the Delhi Police found a dismembered body of a woman stuffed inside a carton in South-East Delhi’s Sarita Vihar. Locals who spotted the body at a vacant plot near Haji colony in Jamia on June 21 had informed the police.
After the recovery, the police formed several teams to ascertain the identity of the deceased woman. Police said that the body was chopped into seven pieces.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal, in identifying the body was a big challenge for the police force. As part of the investigations, the police checked the records of missing persons. However, no connections with the body were established.
Despite efforts, the police were unable to trace the identity of the woman. However, the case was cracked based on a small clue from the carton in which the body was found stuffed. Police said that they got a lead from the address that was printed on the carton.
The carton had the address of a private movers and packers firm based in Gurgaon. Executives from the firm confirmed that the carton belonged to them. It was later found that a person identified as Javed Akhtar had used the carton to place orders from UAE.
The company later gave the address of Akhtar. When the police contacted him, Akhtar admitted that he had obtained the box from UAE and that there were many such boxes that he had ordered. Akhtar told the police that some of the boxes he had given to the domestic help.
Police found out that one of the boxes was kept at a residence in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh. Akhtar told police that he had a tenant -Sajid Ali Ansari – who lived at that residence.
The police later went to track down Sajid. However, his neighbours told the police that he left the house a few days ago.

On Monday, 26-year-old Sajid was detained and brought for interrogation. Sajid did his engineering from Kurukshetra University in Haryana.
Police said that the woman has been identified as Juhi. Sajid Ali revealed that in 2010, he had dialled a number by mistake. He became friends with his wife, who was a resident of Chappra, Bihar, and that she got married to Sajid in 2011. The couple had moved to Delhi from Bihar, and have 2 daughters aged 1 ½ & 2 ½. The victim’s family had cut ties with her after her marriage.
Police said that the couple soon started having differences over Sajid’s unstable employment. On the intervening night of June 20 and June 21, the couple got into a heated argument after which Sajid strangled Juhi.
The accused later called his two brothers Ishteyaque Alam Ansari, (28) and Hazmat Ali Ansari (46), who helped him in chopping the body using cleaver before dumping it in the vacant plot.
The woman, who came from a well-off family, was finding it difficult to live in poverty and the expenses had also increased after the birth of their children, said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southeast).
The couple had regular fights over the issue. Meanwhile, Sajid Ali developed closeness with another woman at Champaran, Bihar and he wanted to kill his wife.
On June 20, Sajid Ali had a quarrel with his wife following which he allegedly strangulated her.
Later, he called his brother Ishteyaque Alam, who stayed with the couple, and told him about his actions. Alam helped him to chop off the body into seven pieces and to dispose of it to evade detection.
On June 22, he informed his neighbours that he was vacating his house and also his landlord.
