This was the third meeting between England and Belgium at the World Cup, with England so far unbeaten in their encounters. They would have hoped for a similar result, but it was not to be today.

On 51st minute Belgium went ahead through Januzaj. It was a fantastic strike from the former Manchester United Man who skipped in to the penalty area, cut on to his left foot and curled a brilliant shot past the outstretched limbs of Pickford. It was Adnan Januzaj’s first goal for his nation coming on his ninth appearance.
England had tried to make constant inroads in to Belgium defense from then, but as it happened throughout the day, their shots were mostly off target. In the end, it was 1 – 0 for Belgium.
Belgium will meet Japan in Pre-Quarter and England will meet Colombia.
