Plastic bottles are becoming an increasing problem, adding to the misery of the environment, but then an interesting solution has now come up that might alleviate the situation. Authorities at various railway stations in Hyderabad have installed plastic bottle crushers to save the environment and discourage littering.

Once the plastic bottles are crushed, it will come out as fine pieces which will be again sold as scrap to be reused to make items like bags and t-shirts. The machine has the capacity to crush around 5000 bottles per day.

These machines have been installed in Kachiguda, Secunderabad, Nizamabad and Vijayawada railway stations. At Vadodara railway station too, these machines have been set up where the bottle crusher machine offers money in return! Passengers can earn up to 5rs by feeding bottle into the machine.
More stations are expected to follow this model in the coming days.
