Here’s the list of most awaited big budget upcoming malayalam movies

Kunjali Marakkar

There are two movies on historical legend Kunjali Marakkar IV coming, one with Superstar Mohanlal and the other with Megastar Mammootty. Former is titled as Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and the latter is Kunjali Marakkar IV. Arabikadalinte Simham will be directed by ace director Priyadarshan and will be made on a whopping budget of 100 Crores. It will start rolling by November this year. Meanwhile, the Mammootty starrer will be helmed by cinematographer-turned-director Santosh Sivan.

Maamaankam

Maamaankam is a grand budget movie based on Maamaankam, a historical duodecennial festival held in Kerala. Megastar Mammootty, who is a master in portraying historical characters, plays the lead role in it. The megastar will be appearing in multiple getups in the movie. Directed by debutant Sajeev Pillai, Maamaankam also features Druvan, Neeraj Madhav and Prachi Tehlan in pivotal roles.

Kayamkulam Kochunni

Another big budget historical movie, Kayamkulam Kochunni has a bunch of highly talented technicians in it. Written by writer duo ?Bobby-Sanjay and directed by Rosshan Andrrews, the movie features young talent Nivin Pauly in the title role of Kayamkulam Kochunni, an infamous highwayman. Mohanlal plays an extended cameo in it. The star cast of the movie also includes some big names like Priya Anand, Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Priyanka Thimmesh.

Odiyan

Odiyan is obviously one of the most hyped Malayalam movies of recent times. The movie is all about Odiyan Manickyan, a man who is an expert in Odividya, a kind of black magic. The film, written by K. Harikrishnan and directed by ad filmmaker turned filmmaker V. A. Shrikumar Menon, will feature an ensemble star cast that includes Manju Warrier, Prakash Raj, Innocent, Siddique, Narain, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Sana Althaf and Kailash. The movie will have some superior quality vfx sequences in it.

Marthanda Varma

Upcoming big budget drama Marthanda Varma has already created headlines as it has Baahubali fame Rana Daggubati playing the title role in it. The story of the movie, written by Robin Thirumala and directed by K Madhu, is all about the life of Anizham Thirunal Marthanda Varma, the King of Travancore. According to the director, the movie will have some well-known international technicians working behind it.

Kaaliyan

Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer Kaaliyan is a big-budget period drama which is inspired by the ballads of Iravikkutti Pillai, a warrior of Venad. The movie, which is scripted by B T Anil Kumar and directed by S Mahesh, will have Baahubali fame Satyaraj playing a pivotal role. Reportedly, the action sequences of the movie will be choreographed by those who have worked with the famous TV series Game of Thrones.
