This Camera Doesn’t Take Photos, BUT Turns them in to this

Remember Google’s Quick Draw! An online game that used a neural network to attempt to guess what people were trying to draw? That game ended up producing a database of over 50 million identified stick figure drawings that Dan Macnish was able to harness to help power his camera, which runs on a Raspberry Pi, with a thermal printer and some other electronics that help it function not unlike an iconic Polaroid does.

Dan Macnish’s camera converts what the camera’s lens sees into crude, stick figure doodles. His camera doesn’t have a viewfinder or a preview screen. You simply point it at a scene, push the trigger and out comes a small doodle from a thermal printer. The image reflects how the background neural network powering the camera interpreted the scene coming through the lens. So whatever that comes out of it, it may not be what you expect.

Your selfie could come out as a bike ride, your cat could be a car, it could be anything. But then you think it will be fun to invest in it? Let us know in the comments.
