The wife of a member of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s gang arrested by the Thane police on Saturday for possessing illegal weapons including an AK-56 assault rifle. Besides the rifle, three magazines, 108 live rounds, and two 9-mm pistols were also recovered from the residence of Yasmeen, wife of Naeem Fahim Khan, in Mumbai’s Goregaon.
The cops had the information of the drug peddlers, who led them to the cache of arms and ammunition they seized on Saturday, named – Zahid Ali Shaukat Kashmiri and Sanjay Bipin Shroff, both 47 – were coming to Thane’s Rabodi area on July 5. They captured and arrested them.
“The duo are from Nagpada Mumbai. We found that they had 5 grams cocaine each, Rs 1.57 lakh in cash and mobile phones which were seized,” a policeman from Thane’s Anti-extortion cell said.

During the interrogation, they told the cops that Naim Khan had weapons in his home. As per the given information, the cops raided Khan’s house at Bangurnagar, Goregaon, Mumbai on Saturday morning and found arms. “While Naeem Khan is serving his term in jail in another case, the weapons were in his wife’s custody and she has been arrested,” the policeman said.
Naeem was arrested in April 2016 by Mumbai police in an MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act) case. He was one of the four accused who plotted to kill former Dawood aide Iqbal Attarwala on behalf of gangster Chhota Shakeel. They were caught red-handed by Mumbai Police’s crime branch.
“We will produce Yasmeen Khan in court on Sunday to seek further custody,” said DCP Abhishek Trimukhe, zone 1, Thane police. “We are still to investigate the motive behind keeping these weapons at home,” he added.
