Tired & thirsty: babies punished for not paying their fees on times

The cruelty of the school authorities knows no bounds as kindergarten babies were punished for not paying their fees on time.

A school based in Delhi had locked up 15 of their kindergarten students (most of the 5-years-old) for the delay in the payment of their school fees.  The incident took place at Rabea Girls’ Public School in the area on Monday.

It was alleged the kids were locked up from 07:00 AM in the morning till their departure time, when the parents came to collect them.

A parent who couldn’t find his child had questioned the authorities and was answered that his daughter and others were locked in the basement as a punishment for non-payment of fees.

The parent had reached the basement and was shocked to see 15-20 students along with his daughter in the stuffy room. The room had no windows and there were only two ceiling fans, making the room even more claustrophobic.

Taking the kids out of the room, the parent had reported the incident to the police, which by then the other parents had arrived.

The parents immediately went to Hauz Kazi Police station and filed a complaint against the school. The parents claimed that they had paid the school fees, adding that even if there was a delay, this kind of treatment of their wards is unacceptable.

Another parent said that his daughter was traumatized and is not ready to go back to school.

The police have registered a case under sections of wrongful confinement and Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act. The police said that 16 girls of KG and primary section were detained.
