The daughter of late actress, Sridevi and film producer, Boney Kapoor, is busy promoting her first film, Dhadak, that is set to release on July 20, 2018. Post the launch of the Dhadak trailer, Janhvi Kapoor only seems to be getting more love and attention – so say her 1.7 million and counting followers on Instagram and the several fan pages dedicated to her.
While the newcomer has said that she looks up to her mother when it comes acting, she, however, has a soft corner for her younger sister, Khushi, whom she based her character Parthavi in the film.
In a recent interview, Janhvi says that she tried to emulate her younger sister for her role.
“I would see Khushi and draw parallels in my mind. There were things which are similar. Khushi is very sensitive but not very expressive. She is a little pricey as a person. She can be a little bit of a bully. But, there’s strength and resilience in my sister that is magnanimous but it is silent. There are only a few things that make her cry. When she loves, she loves deeply and there is a very deep sense of loyalty. That was another parallel I saw in Khushi and the character I am playing. They act like they don’t care. I think my sister is like that and I saw the similarity in the character I played onscreen.”
Janhvi will be making her acting debut alongside Shahid Kapoor’s younger brother, Ishaan Khatter. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film is a remake of the Marathi film Sairat. The film, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, is slated for a July 20 release.
