APJ Abdul Kalam’s ‘Vision 2020’ to be fulfilled by PM Modi’s ‘New India’?

India Vision 2020 was initially a document prepared by the Technology Information, Forecasting and Assessment Council (TIFAC) of India’s Department of Science and Technology under the chairmanship of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam and a team of 500 experts.

Kalam described the plan as follows: “Transforming the nation into a developed country, five areas in combination have been identified based on India’s core competence, natural resources and talented manpower for integrated action to double the growth rate of GDP and realize the Vision of Developed India”.

In the presence of the members of Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam International Foundation and senior bureaucrats who were present for the A P J Abdul Kalam Memorial lecture in Delhi.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s New India will redeem Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s Vision 2020.’Vision 2020′ was not only a numerical vision but actually a vision of ‘New India’ also envisaged by Prime Minister Modi,” the minister said.

On the occasion, the Minister of State (MoS) in the Prime Minister’s Office also presented Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Awards to the bureaucrats for working in public interest.

Remembering the former president, the Minister stated that being associated with Kalam was learning and extremely inspiring experience.

During his lecture, Singh further said that former president’s public and private image had no contradiction. He also talked about the scientific temper of Kalam.

Other speakers, including D R Karthikeyan, former Director General, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and S M Khan, then Press Secretary to Kalam, also shared their experiences of working with the former president.
