In a tragic incident, a six-story under-construction building has collapsed in Shah Beri village under Bisrakh police station limits. According to reports, several people mostly labourers are feared trapped under the debris. Police and rescue teams have rushed to the spot.
Greater Noida authorities had acquired land in Shah Beri. Villagers protested against the acquisition and moved court against this. The Supreme Court later cancelled the acquisition. After the apex court’s ruling, builders had to change the location of their projects. The state government In January ordered a fast-track probe against as many as 27 serving and former Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority officials for their role in an alleged land scam in 2008.

As per media reports, even after the court’s ruling, several illegal buildings have been constructed in the area. The land has been grabbed from the farmers to build multi-story buildings. The building collapsed on Tuesday night has also been built on the unauthorized land. Safety norms have not been followed to construct the building.
