Samsung’s upcoming smartwatches are gaining steam

Over the past couple of days, rumours about Samsung’s upcoming line-up of smartwatches are gaining steam. The last we heard about it was that the South Korean tech giant would be rebranding the Gear S line-up to simply the Samsung Watch and they would be using their very own Tizen OS.

Now, it appears that those rumours hold no weight and Samsung will instead shift over to Google’s Wear OS and launch the Samsung Galaxy Watch in two sizes.

As per a report by Phonearena, the Samsung Galaxy Watch has passed through the FCC and the models that were included in the certification are SM-R815U for the US and SM-R815W for Canada.

Another Galaxy Watch model, SM-R805U has received approval from the regulatory agency and it is said to be larger with a 1.3-inch display. The previous model, the SM-R815 features a 1.2-inch screen.

The report goes on to state that the Samsung Galaxy Watch models the same LTE bands which essentially means that the larger model will support LTE as well. Both of them also feature Wi-Fi (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n).

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is expected to make its debut alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9. Both models are expected to go on sale by August 24.
