This is What Minister of Culture A.K Balan Said about Inviting Mohanlal to the Award Function

After a lot of debates and discussions regarding inviting Mohanlal to the Kerala State Award Distribution function, Minister of Law and Culture, A.K Balan has said that he will invite Mohanlal for the function. There is no logic to the argument that including Mohanlal in the function would make the function any less attractive.

There was a mass petition signed by 107 people submitted to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that Mohanlal may not be allowed to participate in the function. While it is unclear as to what prompted the signatories to sign, whether it’s because of his recent soft stand on the co-actor Dileep or a general policy against not allowing any other guest from outside. Many eminent personalities from film field including actors like Prakash Raj, Rima Kallingal had signed the petition. However, in the last few hours, everyone has corrected their stand and said that they hold no grudge against Mohanlal and that their aversion towards him being in the function is more or less fuelled by their desire to keep award function pure and not ‘glamorous’.

But organisations from film field like Fefka, AMMA, Film Chamber etc had raised concerns about a campaign and conspiracy against Mohanlal and demanded an inquiry about the same. The award winner, actor Indrans came out in support of Mohanlal and said he cannot understand how Mohanlal’s presence can make the function lose its value. He said actors like him have thrived with the support of actors like Mohanlal and Mammootty.
