Maruti Suzuki, India’s leading car manufacturer has proactively recalled 2018 Swift hatchback and new Dzire compact sedan in the country for inspecting a probable fault in the airbag controller unit. As a part of this recall, the car maker will be inspecting around 1297 vehicles (713 units of Dzire and 566 units of Swift) collectively that was manufactured in between May 7 to July 5, 2018. The fault in the airbag controller unit may result in non-deployment of the airbag, reports TOI.
The car maker will be initiating a campaign will commence from July 25 and Maruti Suzuki dealerships will be contacting the affected vehicles for inspection and replacement of the component, which will be carried out free of cost.

Moreover, the customers can log on to the official Maruti Suzuki website to check if their vehicle is affected or not. They need to fill up the chassis number mentioned on the vehicle ID plate to ascertain if their vehicle is part of the recall. Moreover, the customers can also contact their respective dealer for verifying the same.
This is the second instance when Maruti Suzuki India has organised a recall campaign for the new Swift for this year. Previously, the car maker recalled around 52,686 units of the new Swift as well as Baleno over brake vacuum hose defect. The new generation Swift hatchback was launched in the country at the Auto Expo this year, which has been a game-changing product for the car maker.
