A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP on Thursday took a jibe at Congress President Rahul Gandhi on his and said that the former’s party people that if Gandhi will hug them they will get a divorce from their wives. MP Nishikant Dubey said that he fears that if they hug the Congress chief “what will the wife say when we will reach home”.
The BJP MP was asked about Rahul Gandhi’s comment when he stated that the BJPs “take two steps back thinking I will hug them”. He said that “Yes we do fear to hug Rahul Gandhi as our wives might divorce us after that.”
Dubey also took a jibe at Gandhi by mentioning the Section 377 case that is being heard in the Supreme Court. He said the Supreme Court is yet to be scrapped and since the hearing in the case is underway, anyone can file a case against the BJP MPs for hugging.
“Also, Section 377 hasn’t been scrapped as yet. If he gets married, we will hug him,” said Dubey. The Congress president created a buzz after he hugged Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Parliament during the debate on a no-confidence motion. He also lashed out at Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the Rafale jets deal.
Before his gesture, Gandhi, in his speech, attacked the Modi government and the prime minister over various issues like demonetisation, GST and unemployment.
The prime minister, who looked taken aback by the unprecedented move by his rival, shook hands with him and patted Gandhi on his back. Gandhi’s move was criticised by many and appreciated by some.
