The year 2000 was a phenomenal year for debutants, as two major Bollywood hits including ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ and ‘Refugee’ got released. Four actors including Hrithik Roshan, Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor and Ameesha Patel made their debut on the silver screen. All actors are now happy in their own spaces and careers, however, just after the film’s release, reports of a tiff between Kareena Kapoor and Ameesha Patel surfaced. It is widely known that Kareena was earlier shooting for ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’ however, walked out of the film as it was majorly concentrated on Hrithik Roshan’s character.
The film later went to Ameesha Patel. When the film became a huge hit and Refugee sank without doing any business at the box office, Kareena gave some comments about Ameesha Patel.
As per a report, she quoted: “Hrithik’s dad spent five hours on every frame and close-up of his son, whereas not even five seconds were spent on Ameesha. There are portions of the film where she has pimples and under-eye bags on her face. If I were in the film, I would have definitely got a better deal, but I still feel that the attention would have been divided between us. So, I’m glad I didn’t do the film.”

This didn’t end there and after Kareena made a mark through Karan Johar’s ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’, she again spoke about Ameesha Patel. Kareena stated: “I have no problems with Ameesha Patel. In fact, I even called her up after Gadar. I thought she was good, and I told her so. Even at one of the award functions, I went up to her and said hello. If that’s not graciousness, then what is? What more can I do to make peace?”
Kareena further explained her reason for calling Ameesha a bad actress: “I said that (Ameesha is a bad actress) only because I was categorically asked whether she’s a bad actress. So I said who was I to make such a statement? Who am I to judge her? I have never bad mouthed Ameesha Patel. She’s a colleague. She’s working with my sister. But when I hear rubbish spoken about me, I won’t tolerate it.”
