In a surprising development, Army personnel raided the house of a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) youth leader at Naira village in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district. Waheed Para, whose house was raided, was not home at the time of the raid. His family informed him that their house along with other two houses was surrounded by bulletproof vehicles. The PDP youth leader later took up the matter with top police and Army officers.

Interestingly, police said they did not know about the raid before Para approached them. A senior army officer, on the other hand, remarked that it was just part of a random search operation in the village. “We carried out searches respectfully and left the village”
Para claimed that he got a call from his family around 1am to inform him about the raid. “They searched all the rooms of the house and left only after an hour when the police arrived. They couldn’t find anything in the house,” reported Hindustan Times quoting Para as saying. After Mehbooba stepped down from the post of chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Para also resigned as secretary of the state sports council. In June, The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had broken alliance with PDP resulting in governor rule in the state.
