After concluding his Uganda visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached South Africa for the BRICS Summit.
Modi will attend the 10th edition of BRICS Summit being held in Johannesburg. He will also take part in the gala dinner tonight followed by a cultural show “Musical theatre: the legacy of Ubantu”.
The Summit will be attended by the heads of the five BRICS nations that comprises Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
They are expected to deliberate on global hot-spot issues, international peace, and security, global governance and trade issues among others.

The theme for the summit is “BRICS in Africa – collaboration for inclusive growth and shared prosperity in the 4th industrial revolution. Our correspondent covering the Prime Minister’s visit has filed this report:
During his two-day visit to Uganda, Modi held wide-ranging talks with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni and discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral ties. He also addressed the country’s Parliament, the first Indian Prime Minister to do so.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi announced that India will strengthen its cooperation and mutual capabilities with Africa in combating terrorism and extremism.
Modi said Uganda is central to India’s commitment to the continent. He said, 18 new embassies are being opened in the continent.
The Prime Minister added that India will build a Mahatma Gandhi Heritage Centre at the site in Uganda’s Jinja where a statue of the Father of the nation stands.
