PM Narendra Modi to launch projects worth Rs 60,000 crore tomorrow

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the ground-breaking ceremony for projects valued at Rs 60,000 crore in Lucknow during his two-day visit to the state starting on Saturday.

The main aim behind this move of the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the state is to showcase their efforts for development of the state and curry favour with the electorate for the upcoming general elections.

In the entire ambit of this Rs 60,000 crore project umbrella, many small projects too have been included, which are located in the eastern and central regions of Uttar Pradesh. Another aim of the government behind this is to create employment opportunities in backward districts of eastern and central Uttar Pradesh through these projects.

Backward regions like Hardoi, Shahjhanpur, Sandila and Amethi will benefit from these projects.

This ground-breaking ceremony will be a mega–event and many renowned businessmen and senior politicians will take part in the ceremony.

The Yogi Adityanath government has left no stone unturned to ensure Modi’s programme at Lucknow is a success. In fact, on Thursday, Adityanath personally reviewed preparations done for the event.

In addition to this, Modi will also inaugurate three very ambitious projects of the Central government worth Rs 3,780 crore: Smart City Project, Amrit Project (this scheme deals with ensuring clean drinking water, sewerage etc.) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (a project to ensure cheap dwelling units to the poor and downtrodden section of the society).

In February this year, the Adityanath government, with assistance from the Modi government, had held an investors summit in Lucknow to attract Rs 1 lakh crore in investments in the state and create about 5 lakh jobs. Saturday’s event is being billed as a sequel to this. In the February investors’ summit, Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind and corporate titans like Mukesh Amabani and Gautam Adani had participated.

Though the opposition has been constantly criticising the Adityanath government and accusing it of hiding its failures under the garb of such events, the BJP has been going ahead with these high-profile projects, keeping an eye on coming general elections.
