Airtel’s New Plan With Unlimited Voice Calls And no FUP Limit Will Give a Tough Fight to Jio

Bharti Airtel has launched a new long-validity prepaid plan that will benefit heavy voice-calling focused users. The new plan costs Rs 597 through a prepaid recharge, and offers truly unlimited voice calls, with no fair usage policy (FUP) limit on calls. The plan also comes with 10GB of high-speed (up to 4G) data and up to 100 SMS per day. The validity of the plan is 168 days, which is close to six months in total. This puts the rough cost of the plan at just a little over Rs 100 per month.

There are no restrictions on which network the voice call is being made too and also there are no restrictions on National Roaming. One may think that 10 GB data is too less for a period of 168 days, but Airtel has clarified that the offer is especially for users who do not have much data usage but use voice calls heavily.

Jio has long-term validity plans which come at Rs 1999 and Rs 999 and Airtel’s Rs 597 plan competes with these plans. Rs 999 plan of Jio offers 60GB data, unlimited voice calls, SMS benefits and access to the Jio app for 90 days. The Rs 1999 plan offers 125GB data with unlimited calls and SMS benefits for 180 days. These plans are available for all Jio prepaid users across all circles.

Reliance Jio also has a long-validity plan of Rs 999 with which it’s offering unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS per day and 60GB of 4G data for a period of 90 days from the date of recharge. Airtel’s Rs 597 plan comes with better validity than Jio’s Rs 999 plan, but the latter edges out in terms of open market availability and data benefit, while Airtel manages the voice and SMS benefits.
