The citizens will know today whether they are registered citizens or not after the list gets published at 12 PM TODAY.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal calls it a historic movement as Assam gets ready to view the final National Registration of Citizens (NRC) that will be published TODAY at 12 PM.
The final NRC will be published at NRC Sewa Kendra (NSK) all across the state.
The Chief Minister has also advised the people to not to heed to the rumors not to worry if one’s name is not published.
“I feel that those people, whose name is not included in the list, need not have to worry because they too have a chance with ‘claim and objection’,” Sonowal said after Sunday’s party meeting.

“People are requested to not believe in any rumors as all of them will be treated as Indian citizens and not foreigners. Nobody needs to go to the detention camp. 55,000 people from the government have been working on this since last few years. Assam is the first state of India where NRC has been updated. It’s a historic moment for the people of Assam. I want to thank them for helping us throughout. In every district, on every circle there will be a control room to help people,” he added.
Security has been beefed up across the state to prevent any law and order situation following the publication of the draft, with deputy commissioners and SPs being directed to maintain a strict vigil, a senior police official said here.
A prohibitory order under Section 144 of CrPC has been imposed in seven districts – Barpeta, Darrang, Dima Hasao, Sonitpur, Karimganj, Golaghat, and Dhubri.
