In July, two of Juhi Chawla’s films completed over two decades. While her Yes Boss with Shah Rukh Khan finished 21 years, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke with Aamir Khan completed 25 years. Ask Juhi about it and she laughs, “I have never thought about it. My PRs tell me to tweet something and I do.” On a serious note, the actress reflects that she can’t believe so many years have passed. “To tell you truthfully, I haven’t watched 95 per cent of my work. Maybe, I have seen a film once at a preview or in a theatre, but never revisited them. For me, it’s a mixture of amazement and disbelief that I did all this work,” she says.

Considering the season of remakes in Bollywood, Juhi was asked if she wants any of her films to be remade today. To this, she replied, “Maybe Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani. When we made the film, the media was just beginning to explode, it was too early to talk about channel wars, TRPs, etc. There was so much behind-the-scenes politics, about politicians etc, that probably people didn’t get the nuances at that time. But it makes so much sense today, I think that film ought to be worked upon now.”
Whom would she like to see reprising her and Shah Rukh Khan’s roles? “Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. I recently saw Sanju (starring Ranbir) and Raazi (starring Alia) and both are superlative. I would like them in Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani if it is remade,” says Juhi.
