SHOCKING! Expressway Caves in, SUV Falls 15-20 ft deep

No one was hurt in the incident

Four friends were travelling in an SUV on the 302 km long Agra-Lucknow expressway when their car fell in the ditch. These men were on a road trip from Mumbai to their home in Kannauj. Unfortunately, their car landed in this ditch, which was created this morning. No one was hurt in the incident, officials said.

The accident took place in Dauki, a place some 16 km away from Agra when a portion of a service road on the expressway was caved in. The owner of the car is an auto driver who recently bought the second-hand vehicle from Mumbai a couple of days ago.

“A third-party probe has been ordered into the caving-in of the side road of the expressway (16 km from Agra towards Lucknow) by RITES Limited. The construction of the damaged road will be done by the construction agency at its cost,” Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) Chairman Avanish Awasthi said.

The 302-km long expressway, which costs nearly Rs 15,000 crore, was completed in record time of 23 months.

It was inaugurated in November, 2016, by the erstwhile Samajwadi Party (SP) government months ahead of the 2017 Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
