Amidst all the talks of Women empowerment, how often do we talk about issues faced by men? Men are thought to be equipped to handle all the issues thrown at them but needn’t be the case always. Well here is an M.P concerned about the same and raised it in the parliament, but it elicited laughter more than anything.
It was Harinarayan Rajbhar, BJP lawmaker from Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, who raised the point that the government has constituted several commissions including the Mahila Aayog, but none to deal with the issues that affect men. He argued that there is more to this and that the “sufferings” of married men at the hands of their wives often get overlooked.
“Many men are suffering at the hands of their wives and several of them are locked up in jails. I demand that the government set up a ‘Purush Aayog’ to resolve their issues and problems,” he said.
The entire House burst into laughter as Mr Rajbhar made the demand. Even P.M Modi Couldn’t hold his laughter listening to this.
Harinarayan Rajbhar, later went on to demand that Parliament should consider creating a special commission dedicated to deal with the grievances of “men suffering at the hands of their wives”, news agency PTI said in a report on the House proceedings for the day. The commission, he says, will be called ‘purush aayog’. It will be in line with ‘Mahila aayog’ (women’s commission).
