Security forces gunned down 14 alleged members of the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist) in an encounter in Sukma district of south Chhattisgarh on Monday.
The incident took place near Nukaltung area under Konta block around 7 a.m., Sukma District Superintendent of Police Abhishek Meena said.
South Sukma is considered a Maoist stronghold.

The security forces also managed to recover 16 weapons and four IEDs (improvised explosive device) from the encounter spot.
A search operation was on in the area.
Special Director General of Police D.M. Awasthi is expected to address a press conference in Raipur.
