K T Jaleel to Form a New Political Party to Counter Muslim League, CPI(M) Offers All Support

A new political party will soon be launched under the leadership of Local self Government minister K.T Jaleel to counter the Indian Union Muslim League, a party which is a part of UDF. The new party will be called Indian Secular League. Some of the existing left-leaning islamic parties have already decided to merge with Jaleel’s party. The new party will get the position of being a constituent party in the ruling left front in Kerala. The main aim of the party is to be a worthy opponent to the Muslim League. CPI(M) thinks the new party can weaken Mulsim League.

Major Communist leaders from the state including Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Kodiyeri Balakrishnan have already offered their support for the new party. The smaller parties like Indian National League, National Secular Conference, Abdul Nassar Madani’s PDP etc will merge with the new party to be formed. It was earlier decided that SDPI and NDF will also be a part of the new party to be formed, but they had to be avoided considering the recent incidents of Abhimanyu’s death and the involvement of SDPI in it.

Along with K. T Jaleel, other MLAs like P.T.A Rahim, Karat Razaq, P.B Anwar, V Abdul Rahman will also be in the party taking the tally of MLA’s in the party to 5. It is possible that the new party will get either Ponnani or Malappuram LokSabha constituency in the upcoming elections.
