Nearly 62% of the seats of Masters in Engineering in the state have remained vacant. As per the data shared by the Admissions Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC), of a total of 5181 seats, a total of 3259 seats have remained vacant. After round two, 2527 seats had remained vacant and 2654 seats were allotted.
However, not many students confirmed their admission due to which the number of vacant seats has increased, said officials of ACPC.
Interestingly, niche courses in engineering have found less interest among students. Rubber engineering and textile engineering at LD college of engineering witnessed 11 and 8 vacant seats whereas infrastructure engineering at LDRP college in Gandhinagar witnessed 16 vacant seats.

The Department of Computer Science at Gujarat University had 14 seats vacant in web technology course. MS University in Vadodara witnessed 12 vacant seats in man-made textile engineering.
Masters in Pharmacy has also witnessed 67% of vacant seats after student confirmation. Of a total 1278 seats, while 773 had remained vacant after round 2, the situation now is 852 seats remaining vacant.
While the undergraduate programme in pharmacy witnessed a good trend this year, masters in pharmacy have a lot of vacant seats. Not a single seat remained vacant in diploma and degree courses.
