Kerala has suffered serious damages in the last week or so, owing to incessant rain and flood. While the whole state is still reeling under the shock of this calamity, a swimming competition was held in Kannur district of Kerala which saw the unfortunate death of a 9th standard student. It was Rithwik Raj from NewMahi M.M highschool who met with the accident.

The competition was held in Jagannatha temple pond and it was the revenue district school competition. No precaution was taken prior to the competition and no facilities including fire force to control the situation, in case if something goes wrong, were present there.
Fire force was eventually called from Thalassery and after hours of search, the body was recovered from the bottom of the pond. The body was transferred to the mortuary in Thalassery General hospital. Rithwik is the son of K Rakesh who is doing business in Chennai.
