After forcing Special Police Officers (SPOs) to quit, terrorists abducted and shot dead a 24 -year-old shopkeeper in Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Police said terrorists barged inside the house of Gulzar Ahmad Bhat on Sunday night and abducted him at gunpoint from Murran village in Pulwama district.
Later, police recovered Bhat’s bullet-riddled body from nearby fields. “Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation,” said a police spokesman.
Police said initial investigation suggested that Zahoor Thokar and Showkat Dar-led group of the proscribed terror outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen are involved in this killing. Police have launched a hunt to nab the culprits.

The abduction and killing of the youth came on the day when terrorists hiding in a secret hideout, which was camouflaged as a bathroom, managed to escape after killing a cop and injuring five others when security forces tried to flush them out at Batamaloo in the heart of state’s summer capital Srinagar on Sunday.
The killing has also come against the backdrop of resignations announced by the SPOs through mosques in the south Kashmir region. More than 10 Special Police Officers (SPOs) announced their resignations through Imams of the local mosques in the troubled south Kashmir region.
