Under the heavy and incessant rain in Kerala which is pushing the state Into a tragedy like never before, the Periyar river too is overflowing. The water from Periyar has sunk many places in Ernakulam district and people are upset about the water level rising. In Kalady University of Sanskrit, about 400 students are trapped.

In the morning a rescue mission was attempted in a traditional style boat, but as the water flow was too strong, students couldn’t board the boat. Around noon, another boat was sent but neither could it take the students to safety. Rescue team said they cannot be allowed to enter the boat without a life jacket. The students are all scared at the Moment and it is expected that by night they could be rescued.
