As a part of raising funds to run flood relief programmes, Kerala Government has decided to increase the tax on Indian made Foreign Liquor till November 2018. The decision was taken in a special cabinet meeting today. The plan is to raise the excise tax on all slabs depending on the price at which the bottle is bought.

Currently, the liquor that costs between Rs 235 and 250 has an excise tax of 21 percent. This will be raised to 21.5 percentage. Similarly, other slabs too will experience the rise in tax. The extra income earned from it will be transferred to Chief Ministers Flood relief fund.
