Heavy Gunfight between Soldiers and Militants: Soldier Martyred

Troops of 92 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, 32 Rashtriya Rifles, and Special Operations Group have cordoned off the area.

A soldier was killed in an encounter with terrorists at Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district today. The encounter is going on. The gunfight broke out when soldiers, based on intelligence inputs, went to Karalgund in the district to look for terrorists hiding in the area.

Troops of 92 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force, 32 Rashtriya Rifles, and Special Operations Group have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is underway.

According to a report by IANS, the security forces laid a cordon around Kachlu village in Kralgund area after specific intelligence inputs. When the cordon was tightened, hiding militants opened fire triggering the encounter in which the soldier was injured. Police informed that the soldier succumbed to injuries in the hospital.
