Prime Minister Narendra Modi has aborted his Aerial survey in flood affected area after heavy rains pounded Kochi naval base. He was to take stock of the situation in Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha districts, which are the worst affected so far.
However, the survey was put off after the rains resumed. Speculation is rife that the PM may declare the floods as a “national calamity” amid questions over the Centre’s alleged delayed response to the disaster.
