An eight-year-old girl in Viluppuram district of Tamil Nadu has donated her piggy bank savings to help victims in rain-ravaged Kerala. Anupriya, had been saving her pocket money for the past four years to get herself a bicycle, putting in ?5 coins into five piggy banks, which had added up to ?9,000. But the grim situation in Kerala motivated her to break them. “When I saw how people are suffering in Kerala, I wanted to help them, too, with my savings,” Anupriya said.
Her contribution has struck a chord with many who are appreciating her kind deed. She has even been promised a brand new cycle, and one every year, by Hero Cycles. Check out their tweet

It was Anupriya’s father KC Shanmuganathan introduced the concept of savings to her. She had saved Rs 8,246, her father added some more to donate Rs 9,000 to Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund. People are really moved by her kind gesture and will certainly inspire more people to come and contribute to Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund.
