A woman, 50 years old and homeless was mowed down by a speeding SUV, allegedly driven by a young woman, Shreya Aggarwal. The victim was dragged along the floor for about 300 meters in the rich and posh area of Connaught Place in Lutyens’ Delhi. Thi happened around 8.45 pm on Sunday while the unfortunate old woman was crossing the road near PVR Rivoli, Police said.
“After the accident, the driver stopped for few seconds but later sped away in a bid to flee from the spot. A biker chased the SUV and signaled about the woman she was dragging but the driver did not stop until police team used barricade to block her way near Connaught Place outer circle,” said an official of New Delhi district.

The accused was identified as Shreya Agarwal who was driving a Jeep Compass SUV. She had her three friends along with her – Megha, Baby and Rani. They are all fashion designing students, according to the police report. The homeless woman, later identified as Phoolwati, was sent to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Shreya was arrested from the spot, police said. However, she was released later on bail. “The accused, who was booked for causing death due to rash and negligent driving, was arrested but later released on bail. The vehicle has also been impounded. The SUV is registered in the name of Shreya’s father.
