Newborn dies after ambulance gets stuck in Congress leader’s cycle rally

A four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe the death of a newborn baby after the ambulance carrying the child allegedly got stuck in traffic because of a cycle rally by state Congress chief Ashok Tanwar in Haryana’s Sonipat district on Wednesday.

According to ANI, relatives of the infant alleged that the ambulance, which was en-route to the hospital, was stuck in a massive traffic jam due to a cycle rally organised by Tanwar. The rally, Haryana Bachao Pariwartan Lao, was apparently led by Tanwar in Sonipat.

Ashok Tanwar had taken out a ‘Haryana Bachao Parivartan Lao’ bicycle rally near Kundli village on NH1 against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over Rafale deal.

The rally caused a traffic jam due to which the ambulance carrying the infant was stuck for at least 30-40 minutes.

Family members of the deceased have filed a complaint at Kundli police station.

The deceased’s father said that their baby died because they were stuck in the traffic jam for 45 minutes and there was no provision of oxygen in the ambulance.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij has ordered a probe in the matter. He said the case will be filed on the statement of ambulance’s driver and strict action will be initiated against those found guilty.
