Involvement of a Delhi police constable in an extortion case, who was arrested and suspended from his duties. The victim was a businessman who is in Delhi’s Vijay Vihar area of Rohini district on Wednesday. The constable along with his partners, who are still on the run, had set up a honey trap to extort Rs 3.5 lakh from the businessman.
According to the police, the accused constable has been identified as Chanderhas, who was arrested after the businessman reported the matter to the police.
According to the complainant, he had befriended a woman on Facebook and the two decided to meet at Rithala Metro station on August 17. Later, the two went shopping before heading to the woman’s house.

“The businessman was invited inside the house on the pretext of helping her carry the shopping bags. There was another woman present in the flat. Later, when the businessman was talking on the phone in the balcony, two men, including one in police uniform, barged into the house,” said Rajneesh Gupta, DCP Rohini.
Police said that the constable allegedly threatened to get the businessman arrested in a fake rape case and later demanded Rs 7 lakh from him, but let him off after receiving 3.5 lakh.
On Tuesday afternoon, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint and after the businessman insisted that the accused’s body language suggested that he was a real officer.
“Based on the information provided by the victim, constables posted at nearby police stations were shortlisted and Chanderhas was identified. He has confessed to the crime. We have formed teams to nab his partners,” said Gupta.
