rime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched a blistering attack against Pakistan and said that the time for talks with the neighbour is over. His comments came after recent attacks on the Army in Jammu and Kashmir. While addressing a joint statement with President of Argentina Mauricio Macri, PM Narendra Modi said, “I and President Mauricio Macri agree that terrorism is a huge threat for global peace and stability. Brutal terrorist attack in Pulwama (J&K) proves that time for talks have passed. Now the entire world needs to unite against terrorism & its supporters & take strong actions.”
In his comments, President Macri called for united action to deal with terrorism. “I would like to convey my condolences to the victims of the cruel attack (Pulwama) perpetrated just a few days ago. We condemn every kind of terrorist attack. I am truly pleased to be able to working together to fight this scourge on mankind,” President Mauricio Macri said.
The two sides finalised 10 MoUs providing for deeper cooperation in a range of areas including in information and communications technology, nuclear energy and agriculture.
PM Modi also slammed Pakistan for encouraging terrorism and said that countries hesitating to take action against terrorists are kind of encouraging them. “Hesitating from taking actions against terrorists is also kind of encouraging terrorism. Being a part of G20 countries, it’s also important that we implement 11 point agenda of Hamburg Leaders Statement. India and Argentina will issue a special declaration on terrorism today,” PM Modi said.
Earlier today, while speaking at the Tagore Award for Cultural Harmony event, PM Modi said, it was the contribution of men like Swami Vivekananda and Rabindranath Tagore that helped the country’s cultural heritage remain unaffected by years of colonialism and external attacks.
“India has thousands of years of cultural heritage, which has remained unaffected by a long period of subjugation and attacks by external forces. It has been possible because of the contribution of learned men like Swami Vivekananda and Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore.
“Gurudev recognised this strength of India and absorbed its diversity in his Rabindra Sangeet. Rabindra Sangeet has all the colours of our country and it is not bound by a language. He recognised the folk arts and traditional dances as indicative of the Indian culture,” PM Modi said.
