Tea bags past expiry date used to prepare Tea for Rahul Gandhi , Case registered

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) Police registered a case against Plaza Premium Lounge inside the airport after it was found that tea bags past their expiry date had been used to make tea for Rahul Gandhi. The case has been registered under IPC Section 273 (Sale of noxious food or drinks).

The incident was reported on March 9 when VVIP and a Special Protection Group (SPG) protectee Rahul Gandhi arrived at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad. He was scheduled to address party workers at Shamshabad.

Sources say that the Congress president entered the airport lounge to have some refreshment before heading out. It was found out that tea bags past their expiry dates had been used to make the tea. This was found out by Telangana State Forensic Science Laboratory (TSFSL) officials who were present there at that time.

The bags were removed and Rahul Gandhi reportedly did not drink the tea.

The forensic officials then approached a police guard who was on patrol duty on the airport. A case was subsequently registered.

It is reported that the tea bags had expired in October 2018. If a person is found guilty under IPC Section 273 (Sale of noxious food or drinks) he or she can be imprisoned for six months and a fine of Rs 1000 can be imposed.
