Channels in Kerala had aired the visuals of people casting their votes twice at two polling booths in Kasaragod constituency, where elections were held in the third phase on April 23. Among the different complaints raised, the ones against M.P Salena and Sumayya, who are also panchayath members, stood out. In a news hour debate conducted by a Malayalam news channel, Sumayya responded to the allegations of bogus voting.
Replying to a query in a news channel, Sumayya said she had cast an open vote for a lady named Shantha. She said the party had not asked to vote for Shantha, but it was Shantha herself who made that request.
When the anchor asked why the booth looks so crowded in the visuals since only the person who comes to vote are allowed inside the booth, she said it was heavy sunlight outside! (??????? ???? ?????????????)She added that not every one of them was inside the booth but standing at the corridor.
