The US administration has raised the level of its travel warning for Sri Lanka, urging citizens to reconsider visiting the island nation in the wake of a series of suicide bombings that killed more than 250 people.
The State Department also ordered the departure of all school-age family members of US government employees from Sri Lanka. The US has also authorised non-emergency US personnel to leave the island nation.
