Violence broke out on Tuesday evening at a roadshow held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah in Kolkata, West Bengal, and the police had to step in to take control of the situation. The reason behind the clashes is still unknown.
A video, shared by news agency ANI, shows hundreds of BJP supporters, dressed in saffron t-shirts, running away from the scene where clashes broke out after sticks were allegedly thrown at Shah’s truck. Visuals also showed BJP supporters hurling stones at what appeared to be a building while a bike was set ablaze by the angry crowd.
