Net infiltration has reduced by 43 per cent and local recruitment has declined by 40 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir, G Kishan Reddy said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha.
“Terrorist initiated incidents have declined by 28 per cent. Actions initiated by the security forces witnessed an increase of 59 per cent and have resulted in 22 per cent increase in neutralisation of terrorists,” G Kishan Reddy said.
The MoS for Home Affairs also informed the Upper House that due to concerted and synergised efforts of security forces, 126 terrorists have been neutralised in Jammu and Kashmir since January till July 14.
However, during these operations, 75 security forces personnel have also been martyred, which include the 40 security forces personnel killed in Pulwama attack, he added.
G Kishan Reddy also said that the government has taken various measures such as strengthening of security apparatus, strict enforcement of law against anti-national elements, and intensified cordon & search operations to effectively deal with the challenges posed by terrorist organisations in the state.
Forces have kept a close watch on persons who attempt to provide support to terrorists and initiate action against them, he said.
Reddy further stated that the government is always open to talks within the framework of the Constitution of India for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue.
“In order to bring about overall development for the benefit of people of Jammu and Kashmir and to bring the Kashmiri youth in the mainstream, the Prime Minister has announced a package of Rs 80,068 crores,” Reddy said.
