In a curious incident reported from Gujarat, a man allegedly prevented his daughter-in-law from having sex with her husband claiming the woman was possessed by ‘ghost spirit’.
The woman, a resident of Vadodara, has now filed a police complaint in Gandhinagar. According to the woman, her father-in-law claimed that the ‘ghost spirit she is possessed by’ would enter her husband’s body if she had sex with him.
When the woman protested the illogical claim, the woman was allegedly thrashed by her in-laws and her husband at their residence in Gandhinagar, said a report in Times of India.
The woman then approached police and filed a case under the Domestic Violence Act.
The couple had tied the knot at a court in Vadodara in February 2020. The 43-year-old woman hails from Alkapuri in Vadodara district, while her husband is a resident of Gandhinagar.
The woman stated in her complaint that her father-in-law believes that she is possessed by some ‘ghost spirit’ and if she had sex with her husband, then the spirit will enter her husband’s body.
“When I protest against their behaviour, I was mentally harassed and thrashed by my in-laws and husband,” the woman added in her FIR.
The complainant also claimed that her mother-in-law would provoke her father-in-law to sexually harass her. “Whenever I was alone at the house, my mother-in-law would tell my father-in-law to molest me. I was forced to leave my husband’s house on March 10. And after that, other family members had tried to reach a compromise but my in-laws refused to take me in,” she further stated in her FIR.
She also accused her in-laws of threatening her with dire consequences if she approached the police.
